THE PLANETARY DANCE

This dance ritual for healing and community renewal was created by dance pioneer Anna Halprin in Marin County, California. For over 35 years, people of all ages and abilities around the world have gathered together to dance for peace within their communities and with the Earth. Participants create a moving mandala by running or walking in concentric circles or standing in the four directions. As people move to the steady heartbeat of the drums, they become one collective body and each step upon the Earth is a prayer for healing.

This year, the Planetary Dance on the East Coast coincides with Anna Halprin’s event in California.
